This course teaches the techniques required to maintain life until qualified medical assistance can take over. Delegates will learn how to conduct primary and secondary assessment including placing casualties into the recovery position. They will also learn the principles of resuscitation.

* Whilst the overall course is valid for 3 years, it is strongly recommended that the resuscitation component is refreshed annually.

Basic life support is the critical first link in the chain of survival. Where there is no immediate access to formal medical care and the associated equipment, resuscitation maintains life and significantly enhances the chance of the casualty making a full recovery.
